Seafood One: Fish
Today we added a brand new course for Loaf HQ. You can now join Loaf and fish expert Lap-fai Lee for a hands-on evening learning the art and science of fish preparation and cookery.
Many people are scared of fish preparation when it’s something that our forebears did routinely. This three hour workshop aims to take the fear out of fish and give you the knowledge and skills to go home and start enjoying preparing fish in your own kitchen. It’s actually pretty quick, easy and fun when you know how!
During the course you’ll learn and practice fish identification, cleaning, scaling, de-gilling, gutting, and filleting for a range of fish including round and flat fish and a brief introduction to shellfish.
Using the freshest possible fish from Birmingham’s excellent wholesale market, you’ll also be introduced to both Asian and European fish cookery and sit down to eat at least five fish dishes with a glass of wine at the end of the evening. Dishes vary according to season and freshness but you can be sure of a fantastic fishy feast.
The course starts promptly at 6.30pm and finishes at 9.30pm at Loaf’s brand new high street cookery school on Stirchley High Street in south Birmingham. You’ll feel right at home at Loaf, and everything you learn will set you up for bringing your own kitchen alive.
Refreshments, equipment, recipes and aprons are provided.
There are two available dates, 17th October and 15th November and it costs £65 per person. To book a place click here to go through to our shop.
P.S. ‘Seafood Two: Shellfish’ is coming soon!
