We seem to be having a week of Asian cuisine coming up in the cookery school!
We start Tuesday (18th Oct) in China, with the uber-popular Chinese Bao and dumplings course; You don”™t get more Chinese than dumplings, boiled or fried and made from scratch. Lap will tutor you through making the dough and preparing two delicious fillings to create Gau Ji (餃å) – lamb and cumin boiled dumplings; and Wor Tip (é‹è²¼) – Panfried potsickers with pork and kimchi filling.
We”™ll then move onto bao, and you”™ll learn the secrets to creating light and fluffy steamed buns with impressive and delicious fillings. We”™ll be making Char Siu Bao (å‰çƒ§åŒ…) – steamed sweet BBQ pork buns; and Gua Bao (割包) – Chinese sandwich buns. Like all Loaf courses it”™s very hands-on and throughout the evening we”™ll be tasting the fruits of our labour, you certainly won”™t go home hungry! #baohouse
Then Wednesday (19th Oct), we’re in Japan; you’ll learn how to cure fish for sashimi, prepare sushi rolls, make dashi, and properly cook rice then this is the course for you. Our course tutor, Lap says: “Cooking Japanese food need not be daunting at all. Japanese home cooking is really straightforward and above all satisfying to eat.” Like all Loaf courses it”™s very hands-on and throughout the evening we”™ll be tasting the fruits of our labour: sashimi, sushi rolls, nasu degaku, tonkatsu, and miso soup!
Lastly, we’re finishing off the week in Thailand (Thurs 22nd Oct) with our pop-up restaurant night #ThaiNight! Starts at 6.30pm here at Loaf HQ, Casual eat-in, or take away like we normally do – should be another popular night!
